Hartford Man Sexually Assaulted Minor, Gets 25 Years In Prison: Feds
The 59-year-old Hartford man was convicted in April of multiple counts of sexual assault against a female minor.
HARTFORD, CT — A 59-year-old Hartford man was sent to prison this week for 25 years for sexually assaulting a child, according to state officials Wednesday.
Hartford State's Attorney Sharmese L. Walcott said Hartford Superior Court Judge Kevin C. Doyle Monday sentenced Angel Cruz, 59, of Hartford, to 25 years in prison and two years of special parole for sexually assaulting a minor.
On April 26, a jury in Hartford Superior Court found Cruz guilty of three counts of first-degree sexual assault, six counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, and six counts of risk of injury to a minor.

According to evidence introduced at trial, on Feb. 25, 2020, the victim, now an adult, went to the Hartford Police Department to report when she was between 5 and 13, Cruz sexually assaulted her.
Because of the statute of limitations and delayed disclosure, the defendant's charges were for crimes that occurred when the victim was between 12 and 13, Walcott said.
