“We met with Talcott Financial Group shortly after their announced move to Hartford in January,
2023. They expressed a sincere commitment to our work with low-literate adults in the Capital
City, and quickly demonstrated that commitment with meaningful financial support,” said
LVGH Executive Director Stephen Morris.
“Their support has been invaluable as we try to meet the tremendous increase in demand for our services. We’ve been able to train additional tutors and open up new classes. As a result, more students are able to gain the skills they need to take control of their lives and build a future of their choosing.”

Talcott officials said the chance to support LVGH was something the insurance company had to do.
“Upon meeting with LVGH, we were immediately impressed with the energy and passion the
organization brings to their programs and were moved by the dedication their students have for
improving their futures,” said Jennifer Craig, director of community involvement at Talcott
Financial Group. “Talcott is proud to support our local Hartford community.”
The award will be presented at "Literacy & Libations," Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford’s largest fundraiser of the year, on Friday, April 19, at The Pond House in West Hartford.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the programs and services that help build a fully literate, career-ready community.
Established in 1972 by a small group of citizens concerned about low literacy rates among Hartford area adults, LVGH seeks to create a fully literate, career-ready Greater Hartford.
