HARTFORD, CT – Navigating the college application process can be complicated and stress-inducing, especially for families doing this for the first time in their lives.

A youth organization in Hartford on June 26 announced a major partnership to help Hartford families brave the often-difficult path from getting to college from high school.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and SpringPath said the program is aimed at enhancing college readiness for students across Connecticut, especially students from underserved communities.

The partnership was officially launched at a kickoff event at the South End Boys & Girls Club in Hartford.

There, students met with school counselors and representatives from the various colleges within the Connecticut State College and University system.

They were joined by Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam.

The foundation of this partnership is a SpringPath initiative called “Let Colleges Find You,” which was developed to help students and families with the college search and application process.

The free help connects them with colleges and trade schools at both career fairs and via the SpringPath platform online.

“At Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford we are committed to helping all young people, especially those who need us most, reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens,” said Sam Gray Jr., president and chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford.

“This partnership with SpringPath is just another example of how we are doing whatever it takes to give Hartford’s next generation a great future.”

Hartford's mayor said the program should help the city's high schoolers.

"Congratulations to Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford and SpringPath for kicking off this new partnership, and for opening new doors to higher education and career opportunities for Hartford students”, said Arulampalam. “Offering more tools to young people who are exploring college helps them envision a brighter future and then take steps to make it a reality."

Springpath leaders agreed.

"At SpringPath, we believe that every student deserves a chance to succeed and find their way to a college that is right for them, regardless of their background,” said Michael Cardinal, chief executive officer and founder of SpringPath.

“By partnering with Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, we are working to ensure that all students have access to personalized educational pathways and comprehensive support throughout this important life event.”
