Hartford Man Enters Plea On Weapons Charge
A convicted felon was brought up on weapons charges.
HARTFORD, CT — A city man has pleaded guilty to weapons charges, according to a statement from John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. Martin Nunez, 41, pleaded guilty last week to one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On Oct. 15, 2018, police conducted a compliance check of Nunez at his residence. A search found a .380 caliber handgun, a firearm magazine, and five rounds of ammunition in a dresser drawer in Nunez’s bedroom, according to the statement. Nunez was arrested and has been detained since that time.
Nunez’s criminal history includes four state felony convictions for distributing narcotics and one conviction for first-degree assault.

Previously convicted felons are barred from possessing a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.
Nunez is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 18 and faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years.

This matter is being investigated by the FBI’s Northern Connecticut Violent Crimes Gang Task Force and the Hartford Police Department. The FBI Task Force includes members of the Hartford Police Department, East Hartford Police Department, Connecticut State Police and Connecticut Department of Correction. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Hal Chen.
