Hartford Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Gun Charge

It'll be his sixth criminal conviction.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge for possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon.

Law enforcement got word that Christion Mithcell, 29, wanted to sell a gun. Agents made a controlled purchase from Mitchell for $450 on Farmington Avenue in Hartford, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut.

He fled from law enforcement at a high rate of speed and was apprehended in Wethersfield. He was in possession of a loaded .40 caliber handgun when arrested.

He was convicted in state court for criminal possession of a weapon in 2014, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery in 2011 and second-degree burglary and second-degree sexual assault in 2009. He also has two other convictions.

He faces up to 10 years in prison when sentenced.
