Hartford Man Pleads Guilty To Gun Charge: Feds

A Hartford man previously convicted of a felony is facing federal gun possession charges.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford man has pleaded guilty to gun charges, according to a statement from Leonard C. Boyle, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut. George Harris, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to prosecutors, Harris was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital in an intoxicated state July 12, 2020. When the attending nurse began changing Harris out of his clothes and into hospital garments, a loaded .38 caliber semiautomatic pistol fell from one of his pants pockets.

Harris had been previously convicted of a felony risk of injury to a child offense.

Harris has been detained since his arrest July 17, 2021. At the time of his arrest, he possessed another loaded semiautomatic pistol, according to prosecutors.

At sentencing, Harris faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years.
