Please get your cars into your driveway, or to a Blue Light lot, city lot, or school lot, and for your own safety, please stay off the streets as much as you can.”

Sixteen major intersections will be illuminated with blue lights beginning four hours before the parking ban and will remain lit for the duration of the ban to notify residents.

Nine designated Blue Light Lots are reserved for use during snow parking bans. Additional authorized parking areas include city parks, recreation and senior centers, and most Hartford Public Schools parking lots.

All school lots are available except for Bulkeley High School at 330 Wethersfield Ave. and Burns Latino Studies Academy at 195 Putnam St.

Residents without off-street parking are encouraged to use these authorized locations to avoid fines and towing.

Closures and service changes

City Hall will be closed Monday. Trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day.

Warming shelters will remain open 24 hours a day during the storm, according to city officials.

The mayor urged residents to stay safe, limit travel, and check on neighbors as city crews work through the storm. Updates will be provided on when the parking ban is lifted.
