Hartford Nightclub Closed By State After Shooting
The state suspended the Majestic Lounge's liquor permit after one person was killed and four others were hurt in a shooting.

HARTFORD, CT — The state shut down Hartford's Majestic Lounge after a man was killed and four others were injured in a shooting at the nightclub, The Hartford Business Journal reported. The state Department of Consumer Protection suspended the Franklin Avenue nightclub's liquor permit.
The nightclub has been known as a "hot spot" for police, who were already there early Sunday morning when the shooting occurred, according to The Hartford Business Journal. The club was also the site of a stabbing and shooting last fall.
The accused shooter in the most recent incident, Joshua Saez, 30, of Springfield, is currently hospitalized and being held on $1.75 million bond.

When officers attempted to respond to the shooting, they were met with a large number of people running towards the exit, police Lt. Paul Cicero told The Associated Press. Officers then provided medical attention to the victims.
"Hartford Police Officers who were at the club responded immediately, running in the direction of gunfire, and their heroic efforts have prevented further loss of life," Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin said in a statement.
