Hartford Nonprofit Aiding The Needy Gets Slices From Avon Pizzeria

HARTFORD/AVON, CT — An Avon pizzeria last week helped a Hartford nonprofit dedicated to aiding those in need enjoy an old-fashioned pizza party.

E&D Pizza Co. Feb. 10 celebrated a decade in business by donating fresh pizza to Hartford-based House of Bread, a nonprofit organization serving "the hungry, homeless and needy population with compassion, dignity, and respect."

“For the past 10 years, our community has supported us, and we believe it is our responsibility to give back in a meaningful way,” said Michael Androw, owner of E&D Pizza Co.

“House of Bread does incredible work serving those who need it most, and we were honored to contribute to their mission with something as simple and heartfelt as a warm meal. Giving back has always been a core part of what we do at E&D Pizza Company, and this milestone was the perfect opportunity to continue that tradition.”

The donation was part of Slice Out Hunger’s "Pizza Across America" initiative, a nationwide campaign where pizzerias donate pizzas to shelters and food banks to fight food insecurity.

Androw has participated in this program annually.

House of Bread provides food, housing, education, and support services to individuals experiencing poverty and homelessness.

Officials with the nonprofit expressed gratitude for the donation.

“E&D Pizza Co.’s donation was more than just food. It was a reminder to our guests that they are valued and cared for,” said Tom Porell, co-director of House of Bread. “We are grateful for their support and commitment to making a difference in our community. Their generosity brings comfort and hope to those we serve.”
