Hartford Nonprofit Gets Funds To Aid Low-Income Minorities
The Urban League of Greater Hartford received the funding earlier this month from the Liberty Bank Foundation.
HARTFORD, CT — A prominent Hartford-based nonprofit recently received a significant grant from a well-known bank foundation.
David W. Glidden, president and chief executive officer of Liberty Bank and president of the Liberty Bank Foundation, recently announced that the foundation has provided a $25,000 grant to the Urban League of Greater Hartford.
The funding will aid the organization's "Project STABLE," an economic enrichment program that operates within the organization’s Financial Opportunity Center.

STABLE is an acronym for "Success, Training, Asset Building, Learning, and Employment" and it aims to serve primarily minority, low-income Greater Hartford residents.
“This marks the third consecutive year that Liberty Bank has directed funds toward the Urban League of Greater Hartford FOC,” said Glidden. “Liberty Bank and the Liberty Bank Foundation have been strong community partners of organizations across the state that share our mission of improving the lives of our customers, teammates, and communities through building stronger and more diverse communities.

"The Urban League of Greater Hartford’s programs and services are changing lives, building financial independence, and providing other vital tools to navigate these unprecedented times together.”
Urban League officials were ecstatic about the grant.
“We greatly appreciate the ongoing relationship with Liberty Bank and its staff,” said Nicole Hughey, board chair of the Urban League of Greater Hartford. “This partnership has been in place for some time and represents a shared commitment to strengthen Hartford’s most vulnerable citizens.”
The Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded over $20 million in grants to nonprofit organizations throughout Liberty Bank’s market area.
