Hartford Officer-Involved Shooting Investigated
Police have released 911 and police radio audio from the incident.
HARTFORD, CT — State Police have opened an investigation after an officer-involved shooting in Hartford Tuesday.
“Our officers were on a proactive patrol, and when an individual fled from a motor vehicle stop and fired a weapon at our officers, our officers returned fire and struck the individual,” said Chief David Rosado. “We have released all the information we currently have, and we will be fully cooperating with the State Police going forward.”
Two Hartford Police officers were patrolling the area of Capitol Avenue and South Whitney shortly after midnight when they saw a gray four-door sedan operating erratically, according to State Police.

The vehicle tried to evade police, but eventually stopped on South Whitney. One occupant fled on foot and the other fled in the vehicle from the scene. The vehicle and other suspect are still being sought.
The suspect on foot fired at a Hartford officer who then returned fire. The suspect was struck by several bullets and was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he/she is in critical condition. A hand gun was recovered at the scene.

State Police haven't identified the suspect or the Hartford officers involved.
Hartford Police released several 911 call and police radio audio files from the incident. Around the 1:25 mark a police officer can be heard announcing that shots had been fired.
