Hartford PD Officer Charged With Assault: Reports

The officer is on paid administrative leave following the incident last month.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford police officer has been charged with assaulting a prisoner at a local hospital last month, according to multiple media reports.

WFSB Channel 3, citing the Hartford Police Department, said HPD officer Marcello Confeiteiro was charged while assigned to guard a prisoner at the hospital.

According to WFSB, the prisoner became combative and attacked the officer, but Confeiteiro was charged in connection to what he did in response.

The officer was eventually charged with second-degree assault, according to WTNH Channel 8, and is on administrative leave.
