Hartford Police Officer Exposed to Bed Bugs and Lice
The officer and his vehicle had to be deloused following the Wednesday afternoon incident in a Hartford apartment building.

HARTFORD, CT — A possible missing person call to a Gillett Street apartment resulted in an uncomfortable situation for a Hartford police officer who was exposed to bed bugs and lice Wednesday afternoon.
The officer had responded to the call just before 4 p.m., and encountered an emotionally disturbed man who had not taken his medication in three weeks, a police report said.
The man and his apartment were infested with lice, bed bugs and cockroaches, and he was transported to St. Francis Hospital, according to police.

Hospital officials notified the officer, who had two small bites on his right arm, that he was likely contaminated. He and his car were both taken out of service to be deloused, police said.
The health department was notified of the situation.
