Hartford Police Rein In Man Who Took Horse Around North End

The Incident was on Monday evening, police said.

HARTFORD, CT – A black-hatted outlaw allegedly tried to ride off into the sunset on Monday.

But the long arm of the law reined him in.

Police said a seemingly drunken 41-year-old local man who works at the stables where the police department keeps its horses is facing criminal charges after he took a horse for a joyride around the North End Monday evening, the Hartford, the Hartford Courant reported.

Anthony Gonzalez, of 337 Vine St., Hartford, was charged with disorderly conduct, according to the daily police log. The Courant reported that he was found walking with a saddled horse that he said he took out for a ride.

According to the Courant story, police said they began to receive calls about a man on horseback wearing a black cowboy hat and riding a horse in the area of Martin and Capen streets at about 8:30 p.m. Monday. It was not a police horse, authorities said.
