Hartford Resident Scratches Off Massive Lotto Payout

The winning ticket was purchased at a Hartford store Thursday.

HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford resident walked into a Hartford store Thursday and walked out nearly $188,500 richer simply by playing a "Fast Play" scratch game.

According to the Connecticut Lottery Corp., the person won a total of $188,451 with a ticket purchased at Park Gas and Food, located at 1620 Park St.

"Fast Play" is a relatively new style of game that operates like a scratch-off ticket, but the tickets are printed on site on demand, according to the Connecticut Lottery Corp.

The tickets themselves are the same, but the payouts depend on how much a player spends.

For this winning game, the player bought a $5 "Fast Play" game, resulting in a profit margin that one needn't be a mathematician to figure out.
