Hartford Residents ID'd As Victims In Oxford Car Inferno: Police

State police said the two men were inside a burning vehicle found in Oxford on May 30.

OXFORD/HARTFORD, CT — Two Hartford residents were identified Wednesday as being the victims found dead in a burning vehicle in Oxford last week.

The victims have been identified as David J. Rivera, 36, of Hartford and Carlos O. Calderon, 39, of Hartford.

According to Connecticut State Police, the next of kin have been notified.

The identifications came through the Connecticut State Police's Western District Major Crime Squad and the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner.

On Wednesday, May 30, at about 4:10 a.m., troopers at Troop A in Southbury were notified of a vehicle inferno on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) in Oxford.

The local fire department was dispatched and, upon arrival, a vehicle was found fully engulfed in flames, police said.

"The fire was extinguished by fire personnel, at which point it was discovered that there were two deceased persons within the vehicle," wrote state police in a statement.

Police said the investigation remains "active and ongoing" and no further information is available.
