Teen From Hartford Seriously Hurt After Four-Car Wreck
State police are seeking information regarding a four-car accident on Interstate 91 in Hartford Monday evening.

HARTFORD, CT — State police are investigating a serious, four-car chain-reaction collision in Hartford Monday evening that gravely injured a male 18-year-old Hartford resident.
According to Connecticut State Police at Troop H in Hartford, the crash happened at 6:21 p.m. near Exit 33 on Interstate 91 south in Hartford.
Police said a 2011 Nissan Altima being driven by a 32-year-old Glastonbury man was traveling in the left-hand lane of three on I-91 south in Hartford, just north of Exit 33.

Meanwhile, a 2009 Honda Civic LX being driven by an 18-year-old Hartford resident was traveling in the center lane of I-91 south.
Police said, for an unknown reason, the Civic veered into the left-hand lane and hit the passenger side of the Nissan Altima.

Then, the Civic slammed into the rear end of a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, being driven by a 32-year-old Wethersfield man, which was traveling in front of the Nissan in the left-hand lane.
This pushed the Chevrolet Equinox into the rear of a 2012 Suburu Impreza, being driven by a 26-year-old Branford man, which was traveling in front of the Chevrolet Equinox.
Police said the Nissan Altima and the Chevrolet Equinox ended up in an "uncontrolled rest" in the HOV lane of I-91 while the Suburu ended up in the swale area just off the HOV lane of I-91.
Meanwhile, the Civic — which police said started the crash — shot across the highway and ended up coming to an "uncontrolled rest" in the right shoulder.
The operators of the Nissan and the Suburu reported no injuries, while the driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Hartford Hospital via ambulance for suspected minor injuries.
Police said the 18-year-old driver of the Civic was taken to Hartford Hospital for "suspected life-threatening injuries."
State police are still investigating and any witness to the collision is asked to contact Trooper Michael Dean at Troop H via 860-534-1098 or by email at michael.dean@ct.gov. Anyone with a dashcam that may have captured footage of the vehicles is, especially, asked to come forward.
