HARTFORD, CT —City leaders are getting the word out on a variety of available programs for residents that promote health and well-being.

The Hartford Department of Health and Human Services said this week there are a wide variety of programs serving residents.

For example, programs like "Hartbeat in Motion" offer free exercise classes and online instructional video resources on the HHS website www.healthyhartford.com.

They also have a "Healthy Recipes" cookbook and video cooking series that can also be found at the website.

Additionally, Hartford provides valuable information on chronic disease prevention and treatment, to keep Hartford residents informed and healthy.

There are "Welcome Home" seminars for first-time home buyers, and daily activities at Hartford's senior centers.

While the effects of the pandemic are far beyond the horror of 2020, it is something that isn't forgotten, city officials said.

"Our commitment to COVID-19 and disease prevention remains steadfast by offering drive-through COVID testing services and vaccinations at our onsite clinic," wrote city officials.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and the Maternal and Infant Outreach Program (MIOP) also help residents, city officials said.
