Hartford Volunteers Needed for New Endurance Relay Race

3-state RiMaConn Relay event will finish in Hartford on August 24, 2019

The non-profit Hartford Marathon Foundation, which produces 30+ race events throughout southern New England, has created a sustainable team relay race that spans 95 miles and three states. RiMaConn Relay is a day-long endurance running event that will host three-member and six-member teams to experience a scenic course through 20 towns, starting in Lincoln, Rhode Island, running into Massachusetts, and then through Connecticut to end in Hartford. Hartford will host volunteers and cheerleaders from across the area as race participants meet up with their teams coming across the finish line.

The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) is committed to sustainably produce the event, with attention to details to off-set the carbon footprint and promote local and responsibly sourced food, beer and race swag for participants. 85% of the course utilizes the network of scenic multi-use trails of the East Coast Greenway.

The inaugural event has hit capacity for teams. However, HMF seeks volunteers to serve as Cyclists, Course Monitors and Exchange Zone volunteers. Every volunteer receives a custom RiMaConn shirt, food and beverage and $5 credit to a future HMF race. Interested community members, email Nancy@hartfordmarathon.com.

“We are fortunate to have an incredible trail system to enjoy, this race will show-off those areas and communities that many participants never have a chance to experience,” said Beth Shluger, Hartford Marathon Foundation CEO and founder. “We appreciate the support of the communities we’ll be running through and welcome participation of volunteer groups, local businesses and community partners to join us in this unique endeavor.”
