The initiative will be funded by a $4.2 million state grant.

HARTFORD, CT — A new branch of the local YMCA chapter will be created in Hartford to oversee causes related to racial and gender equity.
Gov. Ned Lamont unveiled Thursday plans to use $4.2 million in state funding to help the YMCA of Greater Hartford, 135 Broad St., Hartford, create the "Center for Racial Justice and Gender Equity."
"The center will be used by the organization for programs that help prepare women for careers in high-demand tech industries, programs on youth development for girls, as well as entrepreneurship, financial literacy and other educational programming," Lamont's office said in a statement.
