Hartford YMCA TO Furlough More Than 900 Workers
The YMCA of Greater Hartford will furlough employees at multiple sites due to the coronavirus.

HARTFORD, CT — The YMCA of Greater Hartford will furlough 952 employees, according to a document filed with the state. The furloughs are expected to be temporary losses that do not last longer than six months.
Certain aspects of the YMCA will continue to operate.
"The furloughs are expected to occur on March 30," the document reads. "YMCA is conducting these furloughs because the COVID-19 pandemic, along with Governor Ned Lamont's March 16, 2020 executive order mandating the closure of gyms, fitness studios, and movie theaters across Connecticut, has severely affected YMCA's operations. YMCA could not have anticipated the need to conduct these furloughs prior to the Governor's executive order, but is providing as much notice as practicable under the circumstances."
