Help Urban League Htfd.'s Thanksgiving Giveback Support Homeless Youth

Needed: oral hygiene products, personal care items, winter wear, nonperishable snacks.

Urban League of Greater Hartford Project Ready Scholars are seeking donations to prepare Winter Wellness Care packages of personal hygiene products, winter wear, non-perishable snacks, and more for Hartford’s homeless youth experiencing homelessness. On Thursday, November 21, 2024, volunteers will roll up their sleeves at the Urban League’s annual Thanksgiving Giveback event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Urban League of Greater Hartford offices at 140 Woodland St. in Hartford.

Project Ready is a proprietary program of the Urban League that gets 9th to 12th grade students ready for college, work and life. Youth receive academic and behavior supports, benefit from cultural enrichment activities and develop important workforce and life skills that will aid in their transition from high school and position them for post-secondary success.

Needed for this year’s Thanksgiving Giveback: oral hygiene products including toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss and mouthwash; personal care items such as soap, hand sanitizer and toiletries; winter wear like socks, gloves, scarves and hats; and non-perishable snacks that include oatmeal, granola bars, Ramen noodles. Donations can be brought to Urban League of Greater Hartford offices at 140 Woodland St. in Hartford, weekdays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. through November 21st.

The evening of November 21st, volunteers will work in teams at multiple stations to assemble packages that will be distributed to teens the following week through partner social services agencies and schools.
