Lamont To Be 'Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon'

HARTFORD, CT — Count Gov. Ned Lamont as being one of many who is within "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon."

And, no, Lamont was never an extra in "Animal House," "Footloose," "Apollo 13" or "A Few Good Men." (At least that hasn't been reported)

Rather, the 2023 Connecticut Inaugural Ball on Jan. 4 at The Bushnell in Hartford will feature the music of The Bacon Brothers (Michael and Kevin Bacon) as the headlining act.

The famous Hollywood superstar has ties to Connecticut and has a 40-acre farm in Sharon with his actress wife, Kyra Sedgwick.

And, according to Lamont and his wife Annie Lamont, tickets are on sale for the black-tie event at the renowned capital city theater.

So anyone can, technically, become "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," as in the famous party game of Bacon's name linking him to all actors/actresses.

The ball celebrates the start of Lamont's second term in office, which he won in November by defeating Republican Bob Stefanowski in the gubernatorial election.

It will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2023, at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to midnight.

In addition to Bacon, who was most recently seen on the Disney + "Guardians of the Galaxy" Christmas special, DJ April Larkin will provide entertainment.

"These inaugural balls are a Connecticut tradition that date back to colonial times and have been held for more than 250 years," wrote the Lamonts in a release Monday.

"The event is funded by revenue raised through the sale of tickets and donations and does not use state funding."

Lamont and the state’s other constitutional officers will receive the oath of office during an inauguration ceremony earlier that afternoon.

The ball and is open to the public. A full schedule of 2023 Inauguration Day activities will be announced in the coming days.
