Lamont Nominates New DMV Commissioner

Lamont nominated Sibongile "Bongi" Magubane to become the next head of the DMV.

HARTFORD, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont announced that he will nominate the former head of Aetna's information technology strategic planning as the next commissioner for the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

Sibongile "Bongi" Magubane of Hartford currently serves as the HR director with Speciality Transportation, which provides student transportation for the Hartford Board of Education.

“For many residents, the DMV is the face of state government – it is an office that virtually every adult needs to interact with and for far too long it has been overly bureaucratic, arduous, and – quite frankly – operating in the 21st century while relying on 20th century processes,” Lamont said.
