EAST HARTFORD, CT — One of Connecticut's largest employers has announced a plan to hire 35,000 additional workers in the United States over the next four years.
United Technologies (UTC) is in the process of building a $60 million research center in East Hartford, and unveiled its hiring plans at a briefing Wednesday morning.
"I’d like to announce that between now and 2022, we plan to hire 35,000 people and make investments of more than $15 billion in research and development and capital expenditures right here in the U.S.," UTC CEP Greg Hayes said in a written statement. "United Technologies is growing globally and growing the fastest in the United States. Over the past three years, we have created more jobs in the U.S. than in the rest of the world combined."
