Officers were met by the victim’s daughter-in-law, who found Brown lying on the floor behind a door in a pool of blood, according to Walcott.
Autopsy findings and testimony indicated Brown had been stabbed 28 times, prosecutors said.
Investigators identified Valcinord as a suspect using cell phone data and surveillance footage that tracked his work van and phone traveling from Chicopee to the East Hartford address around the time of the killing.
Authorities also recovered forensic evidence from inside his vehicle, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
Assistant State’s Attorneys Samantha Magnani and Meredith Clark prosecuted the case, with assistance from Inspector Carlos Ocasio and paralegal specialist Lakisha Malave. Judge Joseph B. Schwartz presided over the trial.
Valcinord is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29 in Hartford Superior Court.
