Man Severely Beat Customer During Botched Robbery: Hartford PD

The victim was seriously injured.

HARTFORD, CT — Officers arrested a would-be robber after he severely injured a customer at a liquor store, according to police.

Pawel Onyszczuk, 34, of East Hartford attacked a customer at the Trinity Package Store on New Britain Avenue with three rods tied together, according to the Hartford Courant. To sign up for free Greater Hartford news alerts and more, click here.

Onyszczuk told police he intended to knock the customer out in order to rob the store, but the customer started yelling for help.
