Man, 32, Shot Dead In Vehicle Monday In Hartford: Reports

Hartford's fatal shooting incidents continue to pile up this summer.

HARTFORD, CT — The city's police department continues to add murder investigations to its daily itinerary, with yet another person shot and killed in Hartford Monday night.

WFSB Channel 3 reports that a man was killed by gunfire in the area of Granby Street and Tower Avenue at around 7:06 p.m. Monday evening.

According to WFSB, the male driver of the vehicle was identified by police as Angel Martinez, 32.

WTNH Channel 8 reports the shooting was on Granby Street and the victim drove several blocks before crashing on Lyme Street.

The victim was likely shot in the vehicle, WTNH reported citing police.

This latest fatal shooting comes amid a summer of staggering violence in Hartford, with WFSB reporting 28 homicides in 2023, a majority of which happened in recent months.

Just last Friday, a shootout among vehicles on Interstate 84 in Hartford left one man dead and resulted in the highway's closure.

That came as police continue to probe several other summertime shooting homicides.
