Man Who Drowned Was Owner Of Popular Hartford Market

Police are still investigating the incident and are awaiting the findings of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.​

HARTFORD, CT — The Easton man who drowned Sunday night was the owner of the popular Adolf's Meat & Sausage Kitchen in Hartford.

Jozef Gorski, 62, slipped and fell into the Norwalk River Sunday night as he tried to go from a boat to the dock at Selleck Street, according to Norwalk police. He was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital following the 9:24 p.m. incident.

Gorski and his wife Bozena bought Adolf's in 1994, and was the fourth owner of the butcher shop since its establishment before the Second World War, according to an interview he gave to Hartford Magazine. The shop is known locally for its kielbasa and Eastern European style cold cuts.

Norwalk detectives are investigating the incident and are awaiting the findings of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
