Mexican Man Sentenced For Illegally Reentry Again

He entered the country illegally four times and has a history of drunk driving.

HARTFORD, CT — A Mexican citizen last residing in Hartford was sentenced to four years in federal prison for illegally reentering the U.S. after being deported.

Jose Hernandez Hernandez, 43, was first deported in April 2009 after several state convictions including assault, threatening and DUI, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut. He re-entered the country and again was arrested by state authorities for criminal mischief and evasion with injury. He was sentenced to a year in federal prison in September 2013 and was deported in April 2014.

He re-entered again and was once again arrested, this time in Hartford for DUI in November 2015. He was sentenced to a year in a day in federal prison for illegal reentry. He was deported in May 2017.

Hernandez was arrested by Hartford Police in January 2018 for DUI and other offenses and pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry in federal court in August. His DUI case is pending in state court.
