Popular Summer Concert Series Returns Thursday At Connecticut River

The concerts are at a well-known East Hartford park on the Connecticut River across from the Hartford skyline.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — A popular summer concert series on the scenic banks of the Connecticut River and in the shadows of the capital city skyline starts Thursday evening.

The Town of East Hartford invites visitors to enjoy the "Sounds of Summer," a series of free, family-friendly concerts returning to the riverside amphitheater at Great River Park, located at 301 East River Drive.

Guests are welcome to bring a picnic basket and relax and listen to live music outdoors while overlooking the banks of the Connecticut River and the Hartford skyline.

The concert series begins Thursday, June 1 5, with new performers every week through Thursday, July 27. ( Except July 20, when there will be no be concert).

Concerts are held from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.

Cancellations will be posted on the Town of East Hartford website and the East Hartford Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

The city will attempt to reschedule any canceled concerts. Tentative rain dates are Aug. 3 and Aug. 10.

The 2023 Summer Concert Series schedule is as follows:

· Thursday, June 15 – Cover 2 Cover (high energy dance music)

· Thursday, June 22 – Alvin Carter Project (jazz)

· Thursday, June 29 - Soul Sound Revue (Nine-piece Motown revue)

· Thursday, July 6 – Shaded Soul (vocal and instrumental)

· Thursday, July 13 – The Score (classic party rock)

· Thursday, July 20 - NO CONCERT due to Riverfront Food Truck Festival

· Thursday, July 27 – Sound Pipers (reggae)
