Prominent Concert Site In Hartford Changes Hands

HARTFORD, CT — A prominent entertainment venue in Hartford has changed hands this week, with a promise from the new owners of a sleek, new rebranding of the historic facility.

Concert Crave, which the Hartford Courant reports is based in New Jersey, announced Tuesday that it has acquired the Webster Theater, which is located at 31 Webster St., Hartford.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but Concert Crave said it will be re-introducing an "all-new Webster 2.0" this summer.

Concert Crave, a concert promotions and marketing company, said it is planning new renovations, new branding and new events.

Perhaps the most noticeable change since the ownership took place is a rebranding of the site itself.

No longer called "The Webster Theater," the venue is now officially known as "The Webster," joining another prominent venue in Hartford that has a similarly designed name ... "The Bushnell."

According to The Webster's new website, the theater hosts live concerts, private and corporate events, fundraisers, birthdays, weddings and receptions.

It also includes a concert room and stage that can serve up to 1,200 to 1,300 people at the 20,000-square-foot facility.

According to the new website, The Webster started out 70 years ago as a movie theater, being restored in the early 1990s into more of an entertainment destination with the addition of multiple bars inside.

It has since evolved into a prominent, small-venue concert facility in town hosting a diverse array of musical acts.

Concert Crave, which purchased the site from Massachusetts-based MassConcerts, promises to do much of the same, according to the Hartford Courant.
