Seven Families Displaced After Hartford Fire: Reports
The American Red Cross is assisting 26 residents following an intense interno at a Hartford apartment building Monday night.
HARTFORD, CT — Several families were displaced following an intense apartment building blaze in Hartford Monday night that required dramatic rescues on the part of responders.
According to WFSB Channel 3, Hartford Fire Department units had to rescue many people from the fire, reported at about 9:30 p.m. on Wethersfield Avenue.
A total of 23 people were rescued, with the American Red Cross stating later in the evening that 26 were displaced.

WVIT Channel 30 reported that two people from the building were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, with no other injuries reported.
The Red Cross said 21 adults and five children were impacted and volunteers with the organization are working with the seven families to help them recover.

"The Red Cross also provided a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more," wrote the Connecticut/Rhode Island chapter of the Red Cross.
"The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as deodorant, toothbrushes, shaving supplies and other items a resident might need when suddenly displaced from their home by a fire."
Red Cross caseworkers will also be helping the families in the coming days regarding long-term plans of recovery, the organization said.
