Street Cameras Capture Evidence In East Hartford Homicide: Police

EAST HARTFORD, CT — The new street security cameras in East Hartford were able to capture evidence in a Sunday homicide, police said in a preliminary report.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. Sunday, East Hartford police and fire crews rushed to a report of an individual on the ground in the area of 25 Westbrook St. Responders located a man unresponsive suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a report.

He was pronounced dead and East Hartford police detectives began investigating the incident as a homicide. The identity of the victim is pending confirmation by the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, authorities said.

According to a report, evidence gathered by the East Hartford Police Intelligence Center was captured by the recently installed Street Security Camera system. The investigation is progressing rapidly as a result and detectives have identified and are interviewing a person of interest, who is cooperating with police, according to a report.

Investigators believe the killing was an isolated incident.
