Hartford police are investigating a shooting after an 18-year-old male arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound.

HARTFORD, CT — Hartford police are investigating a shooting after officers responding to reports of gunfire on Brook Street discovered evidence at the scene and later learned an 18-year-old male arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officers were dispatched to the area of 116 Brook St. following reports of shots being fired.

A ShotSpotter alert also notified police of gunfire in the area.

When officers arrived, they located evidence that shots had been fired.

While the investigation was underway, police were notified that an 18-year-old male had walked into an area hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound.

Police said the victim was alert and conscious upon arrival.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes Division and Crime Scene Division responded and have taken over the investigation.

This incident comes a day after a woman in her 50s was shot in Hartford. No arrest has been made regarding that incident.
