Police Urge Motorist Patience For Policeman Funerals
The funeral for Bristol Police Lt. Dustin Demonte and Bristol Police Sgt. Alex Hamzy will take place Friday in East Hartford.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Motorists in the East Hartford area and some surrounding communities are being reminded of potential traffic impacts connected to the funerals of two Bristol Police officers murdered last week.
The funeral for Bristol Police Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy of the Bristol Police Department will take place Friday, Oct. 21 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium, Rentschler Field, 615 Silver Lane, East Hartford.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m.

Both were posthumously promoted to their ranks following their shooting deaths in Bristol Oct. 12.
Because of the large turnout expected at the funeral, East Hartford police said Thursday those planning to attend should arrive early.

East Hartford p0lice will be facilitating traffic flow into and out of the stadium.
According to the EHPD, traffic will be impacted on Silver Lane, Roberts Street and the surrounding area.
"We urge travelers to use alternate routes throughout the early morning and afternoon," wrote the EHPD in a statement.
Meanwhile, Connecticut State Police Thursday issued information on the funeral processions for both Hamzy and DeMonte.
• According to state police, DeMonte's funeral procession will begin at 8:55 a.m. at the North Haven Funeral Home on Washington Avenue in North Haven.
From there, the procession will travel north on Interstate 91, to Interstate 691 west, then Interstate 84 east, exiting to the stadium at Exit 58.
After the funeral, DeMonte's procession will travel from the stadium, back to the funderal home via Route 15 south from Silver Lane to I-91 south to Exit 12.
• Hamzy's procession, state police said, will start at 8:55 a.m. at the Scott Funeral Home in Terryville and follow Route 6 (Colt Highway), then I-84 east and exit to the stadium vial Exit 58.
Following the service, Hamzy's procession will travel the reverse route back to the funeral home, taking I-84 west to Exit 38, then Route 6.
