Unique Hartford Eatery May Reopen By Winter
The former 'Firebox' restaurant on Broad Street may reopen by winter as 'Fire by Forge.'
HARTFORD, CT — A unique nonprofit will take over and reopen a city restaurant that closed a couple of years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Hartford Courant, the old Firebox restaurant at 539 Broad St. will reopen sometime in the winter, depending on an ongoing fundraising campaign.
When it does open, the eatery will be owned by Forge City Works and the name of the restaurant will be "Fire by Forge," according to the Courant.

The nonprofit specializes in providing training to future culinary industry employees while, at the same time, providing opportunities for good food for underserved populations.
On Wednesday, Aug. 3, Forge City Works is hosting a benefit fundraiser at the site from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the goal being to raise $100,000 toward renovations to open the new restaurant.
