Wandering Hartford Toddler Reunited With Mother

The 2-year-old girl had been seen running alone on the sidewalk of a Hartford street, and concerned neighbors called police.

HARTFORD, CT — A 2-year-old girl who had been discovered wandering alone on a Hartford street Wednesday morning was reunited with her mother later that afternoon, Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley said.

The child was found healthy, and was placed in the custody of Hartford detectives and the Department of Children and Families. A door-to-door canvass of the area yielded no sign of a parent or guardian, Foley said.

With the help of various media outlets, the girl's mother was located and reunited with her daughter. An investigation determined the girl had followed an older sibling out of a house on Shultas Place without the knowledge of an aunt who was taking care of her while the child's mother was at work at a local hospital, Foley said.
