Woman, 70, Charged With Arson After Bloomfield Fire: Reports
Officials were helping the woman out of Woodside Village on Dorothy Drive as it burned when she admitted to setting the fire.
BLOOMFIELD, CT — A 70-year-old woman is facing an arson charge after telling fire officials she started a fire that displaced 16 people from a Bloomfield apartment complex Friday morning, according to multiple reports.
Officers were helping the woman, Maria Salas, out of Woodside Village on Dorothy Drive as it burned around 3 a.m. when Salas admitted to setting the fire, WTNH reported, citing police.
At least one person, an 89-year-old woman, was injured in the fire. She was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, according to WTNH.

Salas' bond was set at $500,000, both WTNH and NBC Connecticut reported.
The building has been deemed uninhabitable and the Red Cross is helping the displaced residents, according to both outlets.
