📰 News we're reading

• IWC promises emergency session if bridge deteriorates further (kentdispatch.org) — Kent’s Inland Wetlands Commission is delaying formal action on replacing a deteriorating Bog Hollow Road bridge deck until July but promises an emergency session if its condition worsens, since it’s the only access for three families. The commission also advanced a subdivision on Beardsley Road and reviewed a Cobble Road carport and patio plan near a pond, focusing on runoff protections.

• Rehab of Kent's defunct swimming pond will take time, officials say (lakevillejournal.com) — Kent officials are moving ahead with a major overhaul of Emery Park’s long-closed swimming pond, but engineers say it could still be several summers before residents can swim there again. A new master plan will guide a roughly million‑dollar project to rebuild the pond’s structure, improve safety, and bring the rugged park into ADA compliance, using a mix of town capital funds and expiring federal dollars.

• Kent monument move awaits further detail (lakevillejournal.com) — Kent officials have again delayed a decision on moving the Veterans Monument from Swift House to a new plaza beside Town Hall, asking for detailed site drawings first. Supporters cite traffic noise, parking issues, and Swift House’s uncertain future, while some selectmen question the rationale and want more public input as fundraising continues for related memorial upgrades.
