Coyote Hazing, Conflict Resolution Seminar Taking Place in Groton

The seminar will include tips to protect pets and how to solve conflicts with coyotes, organizers say.

In collaboration with the Groton Animal Foundation, The Humane Society of the United States will host a seminar on solving conflicts with coyotes.

The seminar will include tips for protecting pets from coyotes, reducing coyote attractants in neighborhoods and hazing bold coyotes. An additional training workshop will also be held for Groton animal control officers, as well as officers from nearby municipalities.

“Coyote hazing helps restore the fear of humans back into coyotes who have become habituated to people and involves the systematic use of deterrents including noisemakers, projectiles and water hoses,” organizers said ina press release. “This is a humane method for reducing conflicts with coyotes.”
