Old-Fashioned Independence Day Taking Place in Ledyard

Join in the fun as the Ledyard Historical Society celebrates the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War on July 4, 2015

Saturday July 4, 2015 1 – 4 p.m.
153 Vinegar Hill Road, Gales Ferry, CT

Join in the fun as the Ledyard Historical Society celebrates the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War with music, magic, & more, at the Lester House, built in 1793. Enjoy performances by Sisters in Song and colonial magician Joseph Potter, Esq. See demonstrations of hearth cooking, butter churning, and weaving. Tour the house and barns, see farm animals, and try your hand at colonial games. Enjoy croquet in the beautiful Great Oak Garden. Bring a picnic or purchase colonial recipe baked goods, along with other food and drinks.

A suggested donation of $5 for ages 18 and up will be gratefully accepted.

All proceeds directly support the preservation of Ledyard & Gales Ferry history, including the museum collection at the Nathan Lester House and the digitization of the Janice W. Bell Historical Research Room at the Bill Library in Ledyard.
