"Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Police ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, however he did not comply. At least one Mashantucket Tribal Police Officer discharged at least one round from their duty weapon at the suspect," Grant said in a prepared statement.
"The suspect then then fell off the 4th level of the Fox Tower parking garage on to a paved driveway below. Mashantucket Tribal Police Officers rendered first aid, however the suspect was pronounced deceased. There were no other reported injuries. There were no injuries to police officers," Grant said.

The situation was contained, and no patrons or employees were in danger, Connecticut State Police said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner also responded to the scene and will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine cause and manner of death. Police said the identity of the suspect is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The identity of any police officers involved is also being withheld at this time, State Police said.
As of 10:45 p.m. the Fox Tower Garage at Foxwoods is now open to all incoming and exiting traffic, Grant said. Access to the garage had been limited on levels 4 and 5 as State Police investigated.
State police said earlier that they were assisting in an "officer-involved shooting" being investigated at Foxwoods Resort Casino Tuesday.
Grant said shots were fired after the assailant produced a gun.
Witnesses inside said the casino had been placed on lockdown around noon as police investigated.
"It sounds like they've taken care of the guy but they're still not letting anyone go outside or leave. Cops aren't talking," Evan Cummins said on Twitter around 12:30 p.m. "All I'm hearing right now is ambulance sirens. Considering this is Foxwoods, my views outside aren't great to get any clarity."
Different parts of the casino are being shut down. Outlets are closed. Shops closed. Restaurants too. Weren't even able to pay for our food
