With A 11% Referendum Voter Turnout, Madison's 2022-2023 Budgets Pass

The total requested budget for the town and schools was $91.4 million, which represents a 3.3 percent increase over the previous year.

MADISON, CT — With an 11 percent voter turnout Tuesday, voters approved the town and schools budgets.

Broken into two referendum questions, the Town 2022-2023 fiscal year budget of $31,104,668 passed with 898 'yes' votes and 606 'no' votes.

The Madison Public Schools 2022-2023 fiscal year budget of $60,255,417 passed with 925 'yes' votes and 576 'no' votes.

The total requested budget for both the town and schools is $91.4 million, which represents a 3.3 percent increase over the previous year.

Given the spending plans were approved, it's expected that the Board of Finance will set the mill rate Wednesday. And, it's expected the mill rate increase will come in at "less than 2 percent," Madison First Selectwoman Peggy Lyons said.
