Update: With 17 Active Cases, Schools Report 5 More Since Monday

Save for the Town Campus Learning Center, every Madison school has active COVID-19 cases, including two middle and elementary staff members.

MADISON, CT —On Monday, schools superintendent Dr. Craig Cooke told families that the district learned a member of the Brown Intermediate School community tested positive for COVID-19. Tuesday another letter came from Cooke noting that the district was told there were two new cases; another at Brown and one from Polson Middle School. Then on Wednesday, another letter. This time, a case at the high school and another at Polson.

As of Wednesday morning, the schools COVID-19 tracker showed three cases are in the district's elementary schools, eight cases in the two middle schools, and three cases at Daniel Hand High School. And, one educator from each Ryerson Elementary School and Polson Middle School, are also confirmed positive cases. By late Wednesday, two more cases.

Cooke said in both letters that after contact tracing, the students and educators that must quarantine and do remote learning have been informed. Cooke also said that the cases are not from school-based transmission and schools need not close.
