Join Jeffrey Fletcher of The Fletcher Museum in Stratford, CT on a journey through African American history from the transatlantic slave trade to today. The presentation will include a video tour of the museum and real artifacts from the museum collection. The Ruby & Calvin Fletcher African American History Museum features a collection of objects that reflect decades of turbulent times for African Americans in the United States during slavery and the Civil Rights movement. It brings visitors up close to an experience that many have only read about in history books or movies.
This program is a Topically Ted Event. “Topically Ted” is a series inspired by the loves and life of Ted Mallory, founded in 2017 in honor of the eponymous Madison resident and beloved friend of the library. These special events are held quarterly and are made possible by the Mallory Family.
