• 2026 July 4 Fireworks Guide For Madison (patch.com) — Madison residents can look forward to a full Fourth of July weekend in 2026, with fireworks off West Wharf, a Concert on the Green, and the Exchange Club’s parade along Boston Post Road. The town is also tightening beach parking pass sales around the holiday, so locals are urged to buy seasonal passes online in advance. National America 250 celebrations will add extra significance to this milestone Independence Day.    

• Can virtual reality make people care more about climate change? CT researchers aim to find out (sheltonherald.com) — This summer, visitors to Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison may be asked to try a virtual reality headset that shows how sea-level rise could transform the shoreline through 2100. Fairfield and Sacred Heart University researchers will compare reactions from VR users and non-users to see if immersive visuals make people more willing to support local climate adaptation projects like living shorelines and moving vulnerable park buildings.
