Blunt/Iles/Landay

Giles Blunt
John Cardinal is Blunt’s recurring character.  I’ve read a few of his books and as with many other authors it helps to start at the beginning. The list of Blunt’s books is below:
Forty Words For Sorrow
The Delicate Storm
Blackfly Season
By the Time You Read This
Crime Machine

Until the Night

One facet of these novels that interested me is the fact that John Cardinal’s wife is a photographer.  There aren’t too many mysteries anymore where I look forward to the next in the series.  The John Cardinal series is an exception.

William Landay
I knew of Landay long before his new book:
Defending Jacob.  This is the book that put Landay on the map.  It’s one of the things I like about working at the library.  When I have a secret that no one else knows about.  So many times when people come in asking for Defending Jacob, I ask if they are familiar with Landay.  Ninety percent of them are not.  I suggest his first book:
Mission Flats

A Boston Assistant D.A. is found murdered in a rental cabin in Maine. Landay’s protagonist Ben Truman, the chief in whose town the body is found is suddenly drawn into Boston where the police attempt to push him out of the investigation.  I suggest reading this before Defending Jacob as you’ll be able to watch Landay’s growth as an author.

Greg Iles
The Quiet Game
True Lies
I’ve read  a few books by Greg Iles and each one has been an amazing thrill ride.  The Quiet Game was by far my favorite.  I think you’ll find him just as exciting as I do.  You’ll be up all night reading.

Until next time…
