Exclusive Interview with Celebrity Stylist, Timothy Pamment

Exclusive Interview with Celebrity Stylist, Timothy Pamment: Part Two of Three

Continued from Part One…

The salon staff thinks highly of Timothy and his company. Danielle Scocozza, also known as Coco, has been with the salon for over a year. She is a Junior Stylist, and is stationed next to Timothy in the styling room.

“I often listen to his consultations with clients. When Timothy talks hair, he goes into great detail. Every day is a learning experience. He tells the staff that it is not always about the current beauty trends; it is our job as professionals to transform clients by customizing a style suited for them.”

This piece of advice is not far from that which Timothy had received himself. “I had the opportunity of working with Trevor Sorbie, a British stylist who is recognized as a pioneer in the art of hairdressing. He told me to observe, listen, and practice the profession. When times get tough, never give up.’”

Many clients put their full trust in Timothy, and allow him to work his “magic.” So what goes through his mind at this stage? In rushes a multitude of thoughts, all at once.

“If I am styling, I start with the face shape. I ask myself: What is their height and body type? What are we accentuating? What are we not? Do they have a strong or soft jaw line? When I color, I pay special attention to their skin tone and eyes. All of these factors play an integral part into my recommendations when marrying their hairstyle into their lifestyle.”

The current spring and summer trends especially excites Timothy. “This summer is all about the revival of the classic look. We’re seeing French twists, Brigitte Bardot half updos, and messy but modern styles. We see this ‘controlled mess’ in such styles as bird-nest buns and variations of tousled chignons.” Timothy’s signature look, the pixie-short styling is currently favored among the fashion-savvy.

Touching upon trends of the past, Timothy jokingly mentions some pretty daring styles such as the classic mullet. “What is my take on the mullet?  On David Bowie, with his Ziggy Stardust persona, it was an absolute must have. The style played an essential part in his overall style. On everyone else, it is a bad, bad memory.”

The most recent hair styling topic up for debate is the popular keratin treatment. Timothy and his team do extensive research on all treatments and products brought into their salon. They are especially satisfied with their current line, the Global Keratin Treatment. Their first and foremost concern with a new product is keeping the integrity of the client’s hair, and then comparing the product with others in its class to determine if it is outstanding.

Some of the salon’s newest products are the So Cap extensions, which have been receiving great reviews from clients since their introduction early this year. “Pops of bright and pastel hues have been a popular trend this season. Using So Cap extensions to achieve this look is most practical in order to create lasting vibrancy with the ease of maintenance.”

For those clients who have chosen to use extensions for volume or length purposes, they have expressed that So Cap has been “so-worth-it.” One client stated that the extensions “felt like a dream.” This and other great reviews from the clients have pleased Timothy, and he could not be happier with his decision to bring the So Cap product line to his salon.

The Timothy Pamment Salon was honored with the rare opportunity to test L’Oreal products not yet available to the public.

“I have done tons of work with L’Oreal for their shows,” explains Timothy. “During one show, I met the Market Research and Product Development team. I expressed interest in testing their products. We became a part of the team that launched L’Oreal’s newest ammonia-free color line, Inoa. Most recently, we tested the leave-in serum, Kérastase Fibre Architecte. We saw the serum two months later on our shelves. “It is great to see an idea develop into one of our best-selling products.”

Timothy will sometimes say, tongue and cheek, that he would love to one day develop a hair spray for calming a client’s inhibitions and fear of change.

What are his favorite styling tools for shaping hair?  Timothy simply replies, “My hands!”
