On Friday July 3rd, join us for a festive evening at this year’s 4th of July Concert on the Green, presented by Madison Cultural Arts. Celebrate Independence Day with an exciting lineup featuring the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Philip Ventre, presenting “Echoes of Our Past in Spirit and Song” at 7PM with our Opening Act – Lancraft Fife and Drum Crops at 6PM.
Admission is free, and we offer reserved seating in front of the stage for our patrons. Rain date is July 5 at the same time.

Light and Vibration, a solo exhibition by David Dunlop opens June 5th at Susan Powell Fine Art in Madison. The new show by this acclaimed and popular artist explores translucence, the effect of light passing through water and atmosphere. Forty new paintings examine how light moves, shifts, and vibrates through both nature and city scenes. Valleys, coastlines, wildflower meadows, calm waters, and city streets are filled with changing light, rich color, and a continuous sense of movement. Reflections shimmer across sky and water, with translucent glazes creating depth and luminosity that draws viewers into each scene. An Opening Reception will be held Friday, June 5, from 5–8 PM; guests are invited to meet the artist and preview the new collection. 
Please also join us for David's live oil painting demonstration in the gallery garden on Saturday, June 13, from 2-3 pm. Please bring a small lawn chair and R.S.V.P. at (203) 318-0616.

Lions Club Flea Market Descends on the Green

The Madison Lions Club will hold its 52nd annual Flea Market on the Madison Green on June 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in conjunction with the ABC Bike Sale for a double whammy of fun and great deals. The event is free, and members encourage residents to spend the day looking for unique finds and taking a load off for food and beverages that will be available.
Madison Lion Dick Borner said as the event approaches its fifth decade, the importance of the funds raised for the organization’s multi-focused efforts is more critical than ever.
“One of the largest events of its kind on the shoreline combines a flea market with many vendors offering some great deals. Lions are pleased to be joined by the famous ABC Bike Sale. Food and beverages are available during the day, and admission is free,” Borner said.
According to Borner, in keeping with the organization’s mission of service to others, all proceeds from this event will be used to support the Madison Lions Foundation and its efforts in contributing to numerous charities and nonprofits.
“Proceeds from this event will be used to support the Madison Lions Club in contributing to local and state charities, with a focus on vision, youth, and community projects. We are also looking for new members to help us continue our service to the community," Borner said.
Vendors are welcomed to the Green and are encouraged to register early for prime space. Vendor spaces are available by mailing a $65.00 check by May 1st ($70 after that), payable to the Madison Lions Foundation at Box 99, Madison, CT, 06443. Modeled after the success of Charlie’s Closet, the program helps families access essential equipment regardless of financial circumstances.
Chloe’s Closet was created in honor of Chloe Negron, who sadly passed away in January 2025 from a rare disease. Through Chloe’s legacy, the program aims to bring comfort, support, and hope to families facing difficult medical challenges while continuing GIV’s mission of “Neighbor Helping Neighbor.”
